Liv Racing Collective athlete Radka Kahlefeldt finishes second at the Ironman Asia-Pacific Championship and records a personal best.
Radka Kahlefeldt of the Liv Racing Collective received another podium spot at the Ironman Asia-Pacific Championship in Cairns, Australia this past Sunday. After her second-place finish at Ironman Australia in May, she kept the momentum rolling, "I raced a full Ironman only six weeks ago, so it was more about managing recovery - with a goal to get some good training in before the race without overdoing it."
Situated at the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, Ironman Cairns is set in one of the world’s most stunning tropical locations. With good temperatures and low wind, Kahlefeldt had a strong swim out of the starting line, she kept close to last year's winner Sarah Crowley, the two took to the bike course and both put down a strong time on the bike. Ultimately the run portion decided a new winner and Kahlefeldt finished strong in second place. Finishing on her Avow Advanced Pro in 8:58:49, which is a new personal best for her. "I am super happy with my race, I felt strong on the swim and bike. I made a personal best in the Ironman distance and second place feels great."
Kahlefeldt will head to Ironman 70.3 on the Sunshine Coast in September and then on to her main goal of the year - Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii in October.
