Liv Racing TeqFind and Team Jayco AlUla athletes competed in several national championships this past weekend in over ten countries as the race season heats up.
Most notably, Mavi García of Liv Racing TeqFind claimed her fifth Spanish road title and placed second in the Spanish Time Trial Championships. In the 122.6 kilometer road race, Garcia showcased a series of relentless attacks on her Langma Advanced SL Disc, with 30 kilometers to go Garcia launched another attack to create a small gap in front of a duo of chasers, as the finish line loomed, Garcia managed to amass a one-minute lead, solidifying her position as the Spanish National Road Champion for a fifth time. With her reign extended, the Spanish cyclist will continue to wear the national champion jersey.
In the Spanish Time Trial Championships Garcia raced hard but came in second place missing out on the win by only one second. “I am very happy with this achievement. In the time trial, I could push the numbers that I normally can. So that made me a little uncertain about the road race, but luckily this race went much better. I tried to race as hard as I could. That worked out well in the finale and I finished solo to take my fifth title. It is great to have this special national champion jersey for another year. It makes me very happy”, Garcia said after the race. Over in Poland, Liv Racing TeqFind teammate Marta Jaskulska finished third in the Polish Time Trial Championships. This was the young athlete's first elite National TT championship and resulted in a strong podium finish.
Team Jayco AlUla athlete Urška Žigart also took home the national title for a third time in the Slovenia Time Trial Championships. Fresh off finishing seventh overall at the Tour de Suisse earlier in the week she continued her momentum claiming the Slovenian Time Trial Champion title with a lead of 1.43 minutes. "I’m really happy to keep the jersey for another year, I’m always really proud to wear the national colors. It was really hot today and I got a bit scared. I started quite fast, but luckily there was something left in my legs after the last few days of racing. I’m super happy with how it went today and I’m looking forward to keeping in shape for the races in July.”
